Serravalle, Santa Augusta and the area of Piadera. Between history and nature.
This itinerary starts exactly from Piazza Flaminio in Vittorio Veneto, in the center of Serravalle. From here we will find the "staircase" that leads us to the Sanctuary of S. Augusta, one of the most evocative and mystical places of the Vittoriese.
Dedicated to the Santa Martire, it was built on the Marcantone hill in the middle of the '400 and since then has become a pilgrimage destination. This is also the final section of the Alta Via dei Silenzi trail, descending from Monte Pizzoc.
From the Sanctuary we resume the ascent path and turn in the direction of Case Sassi. Here the views are exceptional and allow us to admire the suggestive Fregona Coast.
At the junction we take Via Vinera and descend to the north side of the vineyard to cross the Borghel stream. We will come out in Borgo Sfadigà. From here we climb towards Piadera on a steep asphalted road.
It is interesting to observe the concrete pylons, which in the past supported the cable car, for the transport of calcium carbonate, which descended from Monte Pizzoc and from the Ciser quarry, to arrive at the Italcementi cement plant in the S. Andrea area. Once in Piadera we find a crossroads: a path descends towards the Caglieron caves, another goes up towards the coast of Fregona. We follow the main road uphill to reach the "Ristorante Dal Selvaggio" where we will make a pleasant detour, just before the restaurant, to reach the church of San Maman.
From the evocative church we climb along a path and after about 200 m we reach a white road that we will follow until we find the paved road. Just upstream is the Piadera Astronomical Observatory.
We will return to the crossroad and take the downhill road also indicated as Ippovia. We will follow it downhill along a beautiful paved path that reaches Rindola.
Then we will pass by a monumental white poplar and we will reach the church of the Madonna della Tosse which is worth a brief visit
From here we will continue up to Borghel and then we will reach the square of S. Andrea di BIgonzio. After a few hundred meters we will return to Piazza Flaminio in Serravalle
